+ Moments of Respite
The American motel use to be a staple for those traveling across the Southwest when rest was needed, but has transformed into a low-end hotel where many shifty activities may occur. Reimagining the motel as a cultural landmark, the agave plant is used as a concept model for its resilience and adaptability in the desert. Moments of Respite is imagined to disperse along Route 66 for riders to take rest, but also acts a historic landmark—not only providing a place of rest, but capturing water along the desert route and creating a sense of oasis.
