+ Union 1 High Rise
Located just west of Broadway Street on Central Avenue, Union 1 acts as a landmark gateway into Downtown Albuquerque. Part of a larger master plan of the area, the building draws towards the major intersection of the rail road tracks and Central Avenue crossing where a linear park is proposed. The architecture points towards this intersection as a major crossroads where all modes of transportation is envisioned to occur. The form influences the structural organization of the building as well as the tiered terraces—intended to reduce shadow overcast onto the Innovate ABQ site proposed just north across the street. This building houses a variety of different uses including hotel rooms for travelers, apartment condos, office space, a community gym, retail space on the ground floor, and parking underground.
